Mr. Bashir Hangi joins the AIBIS Board of Directors

Mr. Bashir Hangi, the head of Communications and Public Relations at the Uganda Wild Life Authority (UWA) has been appointed to the nine-member Board of Directors of the African Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability (AIBIS). Mr. Hangi will serve for three years at the Board headed by Prof. Adolf Mbaine, the current Vice Chancellor of Divine International University (DIU) in Fort-Portal City.

While accepting his appointment on Tuesday 16th September, 2025, Mr. Hangi said that he was glad to be serving on the Board of an institution whose core values, vision, and mission he subscribes to.

“All my life, I have always been passionate about biodiversity conservation and using the community centred approach to address challenges related biodiversity loss. I am therefore greatly honoured to be serving on the Board of an organisation that is working on those exact things that I cherish so much,” he said.

Mr. Allan Kalangi, the AIBIS Executive Director said that the AIBIS fraternity was very glad to have a man of Hangi’s calibre and experience joining them.
