The Rotary Club of Kiboga has commended the African Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability (AIBIS) for its outstanding work in promoting sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation.
Speaking during a visit to the AIBIS offices on Monday, the incoming President of the Rotary Club of Kiboga, Mr. Ambrose Agaba, noted that the club is eager to establish a close partnership with the environmental organization, driven by the shared ideals and values of both groups.
“The seventh and final area of focus for Rotary International is environmental protection. We have been closely following AIBIS’s work and we are convinced that your approach perfectly aligns with our own environmental protection and conservation values and priorities,” Agaba said.
The pledge follows an event in March 2026, when AIBIS hosted nearly 200 Rotarians at its EcoPark in Kigoma Ward, Masodde-Kalagi Town Council, Kyankwanzi District. The visitors were part of the Rotary Northern Mega Fellowship, which brought together Rotarians, Rotaractors, and friends of Rotary from Northern Uganda, Bunyoro, West Nile, Acholi, and Lango regions to network, learn, fellowship, and serve the community.
During their time at the EcoPark, the participants toured the agroecology demonstration farm and took part in a guided nature walk. They were also treated to an entertainment session and refreshments hosted by AIBIS members for a nominal fee. To support the initiative, several participants purchased different products such as beans, pumpkin seeds, honey, tree seedlings and potted medicinal herbs among others prepared by AIBIS members.
“Our visit to the AIBIS EcoPark was a definitive highlight of our Mega Fellowship. Our entire team deeply appreciated the experience, and the insights gained will directly inform our upcoming decisions and strategic actions within our environmental protection segment.” Agaba said.
He emphasized that this impactful experience is precisely why the Rotary Club of Kiboga seeks an ongoing collaboration with AIBIS.
Allan Kalangi, the Executive Director of AIBIS, expressed his gratitude to the Rotary Club of Kiboga for supporting their initiatives and for seeking a close, continuous partnership.
“Environmental protection demands a concerted, collective effort. Organizations like ours on the frontlines require strong collaboration and strategic synergies to accelerate our impact,” he said.
Kalangi added that by purchasing the organic products prepared by AIBIS members, the Rotarians significantly boosted the community’s morale and inspired them to expand production using agroecological principles.
Since its launch in January 2026, the AIBIS EcoPark has steadily grown into a premier destination of choice for agritourists, nature lovers, and students focusing on environmental conservation among others.
