Ms. Byekwaso noted that AIBIS was chosen because of its exceptional work in promoting mixed farming using agroecological guidelines, alongside its consistent willingness to share practical knowledge with the general public.

“The government PDM programme is serious about poverty alleviation and its trainings are therefore tailored to demonstrate actual success stories on the ground as opposed to just following theoretical and abstract examples,” she said.

Mrs. Byekwaso highlighted that AIBIS’s existing infrastructure and capacity to host large training groups heavily influenced the council’s decision. She added that official details regarding the specific methods, schedules, and approaches for the engagement will be shared in due course.

Ms. Peruth Atukwatse, the AIBIS Coordinator of Programmes, officially received the councillor at the farm. She welcomed the announcement and pledged the organisation’s full commitment to meeting and exceeding the council’s expectations.

“We are really happy that we have been chosen to offer this noble community service,” she said.

AIBIS trains individual farmers and farmers groups in organic farming techniques, with a particular focus on the production of organic fertilizers and natural pesticides among other agroecological farming practices.
