Prof. Adolf Mbaine Appointed AIBIS Board Chairman

The African Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability (AIBIS) has appointed Prof. Adolf Mbaine as its Board Chaiman. Prof. Mbaine, the current Vice Chancellor of Divine International University (DIU) in Fort-Portal City was appointed Chairman by the AIBIS Board of Directors in a meeting held in Kiboga Town on 22nd May 2025.

Also appointed to the AIBIS Board for the next three years are, Mr. Samuel Kasirye and Ms. Precious Naturinda who are seasoned civil society actors in Uganda, Mr. Paul Keishaari, an advocate, Ms. Mellon Akakunda from the private sector/business community, Ms. Lucy Mbuubi and Joan Tumusiime, environmental activists from the oil districts of Kikuube and Hoima respectively, and Ms. Elizabeth Nabunnya representing small holder farmers from Kiboga and Kyankwanzi Districts.

While accepting the appointment, Prof. Mbaine said that he was greatly honoured by the responsibility put on his shoulders by AIBIS and that he was ready to steer the organisation to greater heights in the fields of environmental conservation and sustainable agriculture.

“I appreciate the trust that the AIBIS Directors have invested in me. I must say that I am greatly honoured by this appointment and ready to serve diligently to ensure that AIBIS becomes one of the leading organisations in the fields of environmental conservation and sustainable agriculture,” he said.

The other Board members also appreciated their appointment and expressed their eagerness and commitment to serve.
